Michael R. Ritt Wins 14th Annual Peacemaker Award for Best Short Fiction

POY SIPPI, WI – June 15, 2024 – Western Fictioneers is thrilled to announce that Michael R. Ritt, a renowned author from Poy Sippi, Wisconsin, has been honored with the prestigious 14th Annual Peacemaker Award for Best Short Fiction.

Ritt’s captivating storytelling and unique narrative style have earned him this esteemed recognition in the literary world. His winning piece, The Would-Be Bounty Hunters, is a testament to his exceptional talent and ability to tell a great story.

Western Fictioneers is the only professional writers organization composed entirely of authors who have written Western fiction, the classic American genre. The Peacemaker Award, given annually, recognizes outstanding fiction works promoting excellence in the literature of the Old West.

Mike is an award-winning Western author living in central Wisconsin who began his writing career while living and exploring the plains and mountains of Colorado and Montana. He has been married to his redheaded sweetheart, Tami, since 1989. Mike has won the Western Fictioneers Peacemaker Award and the Will Rogers Gold Medallion Award for Western Fiction and has been a finalist for the Peacemaker Award on numerous occasions. His short stories have been published in multiple anthologies and magazines and are available through Amazon, Barnes and Noble, other online retailers, and brick-and-mortar bookstores. Mike is a member of Western Writers of America, Western Fictioneers, and the Wisconsin Writer’s Association.
